Nearly six in 10 Brits are ready to book three or more holidays next year, as well as splash out on five-star luxury, room and flight upgrades, and fine dining – creating opportunities for agents to upsell during peaks.
According to Luxury Escapes, 59% of UK travellers plan to book at least three holidays next year, with one in three looking to spend at least £3,000 per getaway.
Around one in 10 (11%) said their budget ranged from £5,000 to £9,999, although only 3% of respondents to the brand’s poll admitted to having budgets for a £10,000-plus break.
Despite the cost of living squeeze, 69% of Brits said they were willing to spend the same amount – if not more – on international travel next year than they did this year.
Popular indulgences include room upgrades (65%), flight upgrades (57%) and fine dining (51%). Others include staying in five-star accommodation (66%) taking their bucket-list holidays (42%).
Adam Schwab, Luxury Escapes global chief executive, said: “Our research has shown how much Brits value the feeling of luxury and holidays providing an excuse to indulge in things they wouldn’t usually – whether that be a room upgrade, a bucket list scuba diving excursion, or turning left on the plane."
In terms of destinations, 92% of Brits are keen to head abroad next year, with Thailand and the Maldives the most sought-after luxury holiday hotspots. Greece, Italy and Portugal, meanwhile, were ranked most desirable for 2024 specifically.
Emerging travel trends include food tourism, sought by 53% of the 732 respondents, followed by experiential tourism (52%) and wellness tourism (34%). More than a quarter (27%) said they would look for sustainable travel options.
