Norse Atlantic Airways has confirmed its long-expected entry into the Florida market with routes to Orlando and Fort Lauderdale from Gatwick.
Flights to Orlando will begin on 25 May 2023 and Fort Lauderdale on 26 May 2023. The new routes will be in addition to the current daily London to New York service that began in August 2022.
Flights to Orlando will operate four times a week in May and June and become daily during the summer peak with fares starting from £409 return including taxes but not checked baggage.
Fort Lauderdale will operate three times a week in May and June and four times a week for the rest of the summer, with fares from £410.
Bjorn Tore Larsen, Norse chief executive, said further US destinations would be revealed “by the end of February”.
“We are very pleased to announce two new routes from London Gatwick to the popular holiday destination of Florida,” he said, adding Norse “will serve more destinations to the US from London Gatwick than any other carrier this summer”.
From Gatwick, Norse will compete against British Airways to Orlando but will have a monopoly on Fort Lauderdale, which is 30 miles north of Miami and a popular cruise port.
Stewart Wingate, Gatwick chief executive, added: “Both Orlando and Fort Lauderdale are understandably very popular destinations, especially among families, so it’s great news for passengers across London and the southeast to have more choice ahead of the summer holidays.”
