EasyJet has detailed a strong performance in April, May and June, and revealed it is almost 70% sold for the summer 2024 peak.
EasyJet Group made £236 million profit before tax in the third quarter to the end of June, an increase of £33 million year on year. EasyJet holidays contributed £73 million, an increase of £24 million.
During the quarter, easyJet flew 28.1 million seats, up 7% year on year. Load factor was static at 90%, increasing to 92% in June. Passenger numbers increased from 23.5 million to 25.3 million. The result comes despite Easter falling into the previous quarter that included March.
Ancillary revenue rose 11% year on year to £693, compared to £1.6 billion received in actual fares. EasyJet earned £56.95 per seat and another £24.66 in ancillary revenue. Total revenue per seat rose 1% year on year to £81.61. Revenue from the package holiday side of the business jumped 42% to £336 million.
Results come despite a rise in costs, with fuel up 7% and other airline costs up 9%. Costs from the tour operation increased 39% in line with expansion.
EasyJet chief executive Johan Lundgren said the group was “on track to deliver another record-breaking summer”, adding: “Our strong performance in this quarter has been driven by more customers choosing easyJet for our unrivalled network of destinations and value for money.”
Looking ahead, easyJet said bookings for July, August and September “continue to build, with 69% now sold”, an increase of one point and with capacity up 7%.
“This means the airline has currently sold 1.5 million more seats for peak summer compared to the same point in time last year, with total yield broadly flat year on year,” easyJet said.
It added October, November and December – easyJet’s 2025 Q1 – was 20% sold, up two points on last year, with capacity increased by 5%.
