Former Wendy Wu Tours business development and trade support manager Caroline Burroughs has rejoined the travel industry after a spell away during the pandemic.
Not in the Guidebooks has named Burroughs its new trade sales development manager. She brings more than 30 years’ travel industry experience to her new role with the experiential travel specialist.
Prior to joining Wendy Wu, Burroughs spend some 20 years with Thomas Cook, working in a variety of roles across the agent and operator’s UK retail network, during which time she oversaw multiple stores as one of Cook’s regional managers.
She left Wendy Wu Tours in March 2021, moving into the property and estate agency trade.
“After working for a number of large established brands, I was drawn to Not in the Guidebooks as I feel it enables me to fully utilise my wealth of travel retailing experience and make a difference to what is a relatively new brand," said Burroughs.
"My role is all about creating awareness for Not in the Guidebooks’ proposition with the trade, and it’s great that they are increasingly receptive to our offering of experiential, immersive and sustainable itineraries."
Burroughs is one of two new starters at Not in the Guidebooks, where she has been joined by product executive Hannah Young.
Young is another experienced travel industry professional, having worked for brands including Newmarket Holidays, African Travel Resource, Yellow Zebra and Flight Centre.
Not in the Guidebooks added she brought significant product knowledge to her new role thanks to her "extensive" travels in the US, South America, Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific.
"I was attracted to Not in the Guidebooks as I love their unique holiday and day experiences which are refreshingly different to the majority of what other travel companies offer," said Young.
Debbie Sowden, Not in the Guidebooks’ sales director, said: “We are growing our team all of the time, and it’s great that we continue to attract such high calibre talent to our business.
"Both Caroline and Hannah have worked for strong travel brands, and both have highly relevant experience.
"Caroline brings with her a track record of building relationships with travel partners, and Hannah’s extensive travel experience will be particularly helpful as we continue to develop our long-haul product portfolio."
