Celebrity Cruises has confirmed its third Edge-class ship, Ascent, will head to the Caribbean for its inaugural season.
Ascent’s maiden voyage will depart Fort Lauderdale on 3 December 2023, taking in the very best of the eastern Caribbean. Destinations will include Philipsburg (St Maarten), Charlotte Amalie (St Thomas) and Puerto Plata (Dominican Republic).
Ascent will remain in the Caribbean for the winter 2023/24 season, sailing round-trip from Port Everglades every Sunday offering seven-night western and eastern Caribbean itineraries.
Eastern Caribbean sailings will visit San Juan (Puerto Rico), Tortola (British Virgin Islands) and Basseterre (St Kitts and Nevis), while Western Caribbean sailings will take in Nassau (Bahamas), Cozumel (Mexico) and George Town (Cayman Islands).
Ascent will join Edge and Apex in the Caribbean, with Celebrity set to deploy eight ships to the region during winter 2023/24, sailing four- to 12-night itineraries.
"We’re so excited to debut Celebrity Ascent in the Caribbean where she and all of her guests will have their moment in the sun,” said Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, president and chief executive of Celebrity Cruises.
"She will be joined by her seven sisters, all offering different experiences both onboard and ashore. Celebrity is committed to bringing guests more sailing options and Caribbean destinations to choose from."
