Thomas Cook’s owner Fosun Tourism Group is reportedly looking to sell the brand, which has in recent years been re-established as an online travel agency.
The Chinese company, which also owns Club Med, is said to be in discussions with several potential purchasers of the Thomas Cook brand, according to Sky News.
Fosun acquired the Cook brand and other assets for £11 million in late 2019 shortly after the tour operator collapsed. The business was later relaunched as an online operation in September 2020.
The news comes just four months after Cook denied previous reports that Fosun had put the brand up for sale. Fosun is also believed to be considering a sale of Club Med.
As well as an outright sale, Fosun could opt to sell a minority stake in Cook to an external investor to provide more cash for the OTA.
Thomas Cook declined to comment further on the reports when approached by TTG on Friday (3 March).
