Chris North marks return to travel with new chief executive appointment
Ilaria Grasso MacolaFormer Vertical Systems managing director Chris North has come back to the travel industry following a six-month sabbatical, joining tour operator The Big Journey Company and its subsidiary The Big Golf Company.
He has joined The Big Golf Company as chief executive, while taking up the role of director at its parent The Big Journey Company.
North, who left Vertical Systems in late October after more than 25 years, has called the appointment “a dream come true”.
“After careful consideration and reflection on my passions, I am thrilled to announce my transition into a new role that perfectly merges my enthusiasm for adventure travel and golf,” he said on Thursday (1 February). “I’m excited for the adventures that lie ahead and grateful for the chance to turn my love for exploration and golf into a fulfilling career.”
Alongside his new appointment, North will continue as an Abta LifeLine trustee, championing positive mental health and wellbeing within the travel industry.
Sohrab Jahromi, founder of The Big Journey Company, said: “[Chris’s] remarkable energy, drive, and wealth of experience will significantly transform our businesses and will be instrumental in realising our ambitious growth strategies."
