Almost all Titan Travel repeat customers plan to travel next year, research by the Saga-owned escorted touring specialist has found.
“Confidence has returned,” the operator said in its Travel Trends 2023 report after 94% of customers polled said they intended to book, with half already having done so. Titan also found 56% of clients across an average age range of 60 to 69 years intend to travel two to four times in 2023.
Long-haul travel is dominating bookings, the report said. “We predicted big-ticket holidays would make a comeback in 2023, and we weren’t wrong," it reads. "Long-haul destinations lead the way, with 39% of customers anticipating a globe-trotting adventure next year, and 26% planning to explore Europe.”
Nearly half of 409 Titan clients surveyed intended to travel in September, outside the school holiday period, with only 12% opting for August. Titan clients also showed a tendency to book direct, with 51% preferring this method. Around a quarter (24%) said they used an agent.
Titan’s 2023 best-selling destination so far is the US, followed by Canada, Italy and Japan. Top-selling tours include the Deluxe Alaskan Voyage and Rocky Mountaineer, India’s Golden Triangle with Ranthambore, and Southern Sights and Sounds in the US.
The operator marks its 45th anniversary in 2023 when it will offer a 23-day Boeing 737 tour, Captivating Cultures: Rome to Rajasthan by Private Plane. The tour, which departs in September, was 84% sold after three months. “We’ve come a long way since operating coach holidays around the UK and Europe,” said managing director Andy Squirrell.
