British holidaymakers are prioritising trips abroad "more than ever" this year, despite the increasing cost of living.
A survey of 2,000 British adults carried out by easyJet revealed Brits are placing more value on travel as the current economic climate fails to deter travellers from taking an overseas holiday.
Nearly six in 10 Brits (57%) said despite the cost of living, they will "always" protect their summer holiday, and travelling is now considered more important as people (45%) "need something to look forward to".
As a result, four in five (80%) Brits said they will still be taking a holiday this summer, with Europe (74%) coming out as the most popular destination amongst holidaymakers. Spain (23%), Greece (9%) and France (5%) are the most popular countries.
The research also found the majority of Brits (87%) will spend more or about the same on holidays this year than last year, with many placing high value on taking a break (42%) and believing making memories are more important than anything (37%).
The desire to travel more has been supported by nearly half of Brits (47%) deciding to spend their pandemic savings on travelling.
Four in five (82%) are currently saving on takeaways (45%), dinners and drinks out (42%) and clothing and accessories (30%) to make sure they can safeguard their summer holiday.
EasyJet chief executive Johan Lundgren said: "The summer holiday has always been the highlight of the year for so many, giving people and families the chance to get away, spend time together relaxing and making lifelong memories.
"The pandemic has meant that travel is once again highly valued, sitting firmly as the number one priority for household discretionary spend."
