Live Holidays, parent to Cuba specialists Cuba Direct and Live Cuba, has ceased trading as an Atol holder, the CAA has confirmed.
The CAA said London-based Live Holidays, which traded under the Cuba Direct and Live Cuba brands, ceased trading as an Atol holder on Tuesday (4 October).
Cuba Direct (cubadirect.co.uk) and Live Cuba (livecuba.co.uk), which served as Live Holidays’ trade brand, held an Atol (Atol 6346) until 30 September.
Both brands’ websites remained online on Wednesday morning (5 October) with no acknowledgement of the circumstances. TTG has contacted Live Cuba and Live Holidays for further comment.
The CAA said it was collating information from the company and would provide an update shortly. "While waiting for further information, please do not use claim forms from other failures as these cannot be accepted," the authority warned consumers.
Agents have been advised not to refund customers any cash not yet paid to live Holidays until they receive instruction from the Air Travel Trust.
Earlier this year, Live Cuba launched its 2022/23 programme, despite Virgin Atlantic ending its direct UK link with capital Havana.
Business development manager Alan Meadows told TTG the decision had a "massive" effect on the brand, which switched to Air Europa, KLM and Air France flights to Havana with connections via Madrid, Amsterdam and Paris.
