Abta has appointed Danny Waine to a newly-created head of membership role.
Waine will join the association on 19 October, and will be based at Abta’s Park Street office in London.
He joins from Hotelplan Group where he was commercial director for its holiday homes division.
Waine is also a member of the ITT board, and was appointed vice chair of its education and training committee last year.
He co-founded the institute’s ITT Future You initiative, which aims to inspire the next generation of travel leaders.
With Waine due to leave Hotelplan on 13 October, the holiday homes division is recruiting for a new key account manager covering the UK and northern Europe as a replacement.
"I’ve had a fantastic time at Hotelplan Group’s Holiday Home Division over the last couple of years," said Waine.
"We’ve launched the HHD brand in the UK, reintroduced Interhome to the trade, developed a brand new partner portal for agents, and added Scotland to our exclusive product portfolio during that time.
"I’m really looking forward to joining the Abta team later this month – it’s such an iconic brand in the travel and tourism industry.
"I want to engage with members and support them through this extremely difficult period; while looking ahead to the opportunities that will start to open up for member businesses, harnessing the great talent in our industry and ultimately growing the membership in the long-term."
