United Parks & Resorts’ UK and Ireland lead is poised to leave the group, along with the rest of his team, posting to social media that it follows a change in the way the group plans to operate the market.
Dave Ody, who has been with United for more than 15 years, including in its previous guise, said he and his team were on the look out for new opportunities owing to changes in the way United runs is UK and Ireland source market, starting next year.
Posting to LinkedIn, UK and Ireland market director Ody said: "United Parks & Resorts (formerly SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment) have decided to take a different direction to manage the UK and Irish source markets for 2025. This means my brilliant team and I will be looking for new opportunities.
"One of my priorities is to help my remaining team write their next career chapters. If you need professionals experienced in brand management, marketing and creative services, media and advertising, communications, public relations and crisis management, please get in touch."
Ody, who has been with the group since 2008, said he and his team had "seen our fair share of financial crises, a few airline and operator collapses, an ash cloud, an alphabet’s worth of hurricanes, three different owners, and a once-in-a-lifetime (hopefully) pandemic".
He added: [Or] if you’re looking for a senior leader for a company or business unit looking to drive growth, [and] galvanise and inspire a team to be their best, give me a call, perhaps we can grab a coffee?"
Ody started his career in travel with Tropical Places in the late-1990s. After a spell away, he returned with Virgin Holidays as marketing manager before moving to Thomas Cook in August 2005 working across its then Club 18-30 and Flexible Trips brands.
A United Resorts spokesperson told TTG: "United Parks continues to value our guests in the UK and Ireland and has decided to have more direct involvement with our partners in the market. We thank the CUBO team for their service and partnership over the years."
