Walt Disney Studios Park at Disneyland Paris is to be renamed Disney Adventure World as part of the resort’s €2 billion makeover plans.
The resort’s second park, which opened in 2002, recently welcomed Worlds of Pixar and Marvel Avengers Campus, but on Friday (12 April) the resort’s executive and creative teams shared more information about entertainment venues debuting in the coming months.
World of Frozen "will take guests on a journey to the kingdom of Arendelle with its colourful facades and remarkable North Mountain", Disney said. It will be located on the edge of Adventure Bay, a 70,000-cubic-metre body of water surrounded by banks and a promenade.
Adventure Bay will serve as an entertainment stage with a 360-degree viewing area offering water-based entertainment set against a backdrop of music, lights and special effects.
The World Premiere Plaza is a new entrance building that will bring together theatres celebrating Disney Animation and Pixar stories in a stylish Art Deco-inspired setting.
Elsewhere, Disney Village, which offers shopping and dining experiences, is also undergoing a complete overhaul. An enhanced Lego store will open in Disney Village before the end of the year, offering new photo opportunities and interactive play stations.
In addition, Disney Davy Crockett Ranch bungalows will slowly be replaced with a “modern and comfortable experience for guests”.
Scheduled to launch this year, the refurbishment will “elevate” the hotel’s theming with decorations that nod to Disney characters such as Junior Woodchucks and Donald Duck.
Earlier this year, Disneyland Hotel reopened its doors following a makeover.
Disneyland Paris president Natacha Rafalski said: “Embracing a transformation that involves the overhaul of more than 90% of Walt Disney Studios Park since its debut in 2002, we’re unveiling a fresh creative vision that has completely redefined our second gate.
“Guests will embark on a journey that blends the magic and emotion of our beloved franchises with explorations into faithfully recreated new worlds. This significant evolution inspired us to rename the Park, heralding a vibrant new chapter for Disneyland Paris.”
