Dominica is open for business again after the ravages of Hurricane Maria last September – and it wants travellers to see how the island and its people have got back on their feet.
The Discover Dominica Authority has launched its ReDiscover Dominica campaign, with hotels and businesses offering incentives to encourage visitors back to the Nature Island.
Through their contribution to the local economy, visitors can help the country on its path to recovery, says the island’s tourist authority.
Tourism officials for the Caribbean destination have been working closely with partners to negotiate deals on accommodation and a range of popular activities.
The campaign is due to run in all of Dominica’s major source markets, including the UK.
Its core promotion offers agents one night free on a minimum four-night stay at nine participating hotels.
Bookings must be made before July 31 using the promo code DOM2018 to qualify for the free night and can be made on departures between July 1 and December 15, 2018.
Adult visitors will also be entitled to $100 spending money in coupon vouchers, which can be redeemed at 15 participating businesses and hotels on the island.
Activities include horse-riding, island tours, underwater experiences, spa services and duty-free shopping.
Tour operator MotMot Travel is offering the ReDiscover Dominica promotion on departures between July 1 and October 14, and November 9 and December 15 when booked before August 31.
As part of its recovery, Discover Dominica wants to make the island the world’s “first climate change-resilient nation” by implementing a sustainable tourism strategy that is “less reliant” on natural resources after Hurricane Maria.
