EasyJet has announced the successor to chief financial officer Kenton Jarvis, who will replace Johan Lundgren as chief executive on 1 January.
Jan De Raeymaeker is currently chief financial officer at European private rail freight operator Lineas, where he oversees the finance, legal and purchasing teams. Prior to Lineas, he was chief financial officer of Brussel Airlines.
Jarvis said: “Jan brings with him a deep knowledge of the transport and airline sector, which we believe will be of significant benefit to easyJet going forward, and his financial and commercial acumen will be critical as we continue to build towards the delivery of our medium-term targets and our purpose of making low-cost travel easy.”
Educational travel brand Diverse School Travel is set to welcome Chris Harrison, former chief commercial officer at Not Just Travel and Dawson & Sanderson chief executive, and Derek Jones, former UK chief executive of Der Touristik.
Harrison, who spent more than 11 years at Dawson & Sanderson, will take up the role of chief executive officer at the tour operator and Jones will join the Diverse School Travel board.
Diverse School Travel said Harrison brings with him a strong track record of strategic planning and operational delivery, before highlighting Jones “outstanding travel career”. It added that Jones had played “a major role in some of the biggest mergers in recent years”.
Co-founder Jamie Gardiner said: “With extensive operational and strategic experience across some the world’s premier travel brands, we’re keen to see what a difference that will make to Diverse School Travel.”
Former Explora Journeys chief executive Michael Ungerer has joined A-Rosa River Cruises as the new chair of the advisory board with immediate effect.
Ungerer began his professional career in 1988 with Norwegian Cruise Line, Sonesta Hotels & Resorts and The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company.
Between 2019 and earlier this year, he led the launch of ultra-luxury cruise line Explora, which recently launched its second ship.
A-Rosa also announced chief executive and managing director Jorg Eichler will step down by the middle of next year and “devote himself to a new responsible task in tourism”. The river line expects to announce Eichler’s successor soon.
Travel industry veteran Bill Allen will leave his chief supply officer role at On the Beach next year. Allen joined the business in 2014 after senior management roles at My Travel and On Holiday Group. Allen said he had planned his exit “in close collaboration” with senior leadership and his family. On the Beach Shaun Morton said: “I’d like to thank Bill for his support, dedication and the impact he’s had on our business over the last 11 years.
“We’ll be incredibly sad to see him go, but in the meantime will be making the most of his expertise and advice as he works with his teams to transition and support our future growth.”
