EasyJet Holidays has launched a new range of environmentally friendly holidays to make it easier for its customers to make sustainable travel choices.
The hotels included in the new eco certified range will be identified by a green leaf motif, and all have a Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) certification or have met GSTC recognised standards for hotels.
A new webpage called sustainable holidays will also help customers identify which hotels have sustainability certification.
In September 2021, the tour operator became a member of the GSTC and is encouraging all of its hotel partners to achieve certification by 2025.
The GSTC is a global membership organisation, formed to manage global standards for sustainable travel and tourism, the GSTC Criteria, and to foster increased knowledge and understanding of sustainable tourism practices through the adoption of universal sustainable tourism principles.
Matt Callaghan, easyJet Holidays’ customer and operations director, said: "We know from our own research that sustainability is an important factor when booking a holiday, and that consumers are looking to cut their impact on the environment when going abroad.
"As travel starts to thrive again, our customers are actively seeking more information and asking more questions, which is why we’re making it clear to them what makes their holiday a sustainable choice by launching our ‘eco certified’ range, which includes all our GSTC certified hotels and hotels meeting GSTC recognised standards."
