EasyJet holidays has signed a formal commitment to invest in Morocco’s tourism development over the next four years.
The operator said it had made a "substantial investment", but did not give details, although it did reveal easyJet has agreed to double seat capacity to the country. The airline currently serves Marrakech and the coastal destinations of Agadir and Essaouria.
The easyJet group partnership with the Moroccan National Tourism Office commences this summer and will include online and offline marketing by easyJet holidays with support from the MNTO and authorization to use its promotional material.
Garry Wilson, easyJet holidays chief executive, said: “I’m extremely pleased that we’ve signed our official commitment to cooperate with the Morocco National Tourism Office until 2027.
"Morocco is a fantastic destination which our customers love and we’re proud to have in our portfolio, so I’m very happy to be supporting its tourism growth for the future. I look forward to seeing the successes of our partnership.”
Adel El Fakir, MNTO chief executive added: "This agreement with easyJet is historic for Morocco. The airline has real expertise in the European market, our main tourist source.
“EasyJet will thus be able to serve Morocco through additional direct routes with a doubling of seat capacity by 2028. This reinforces our offensive strategy on our target markets. What’s more, the growth of easyJet holidays is a fantastic opportunity for customers in the UK to experience dedicated package holidays to Morocco.”
