Emirates will restore its Airbus A380s to its daily Glasgow-Dubai service in the spring after a more than three-year hiatus.
The Gulf carrier will begin operating the route using its A380s for the first time since September 2019, starting 26 March.
Emirates said the aircraft, purported to be the world’s largest commercial passenger aircraft, was being reintroduced "due to increased demand" for the route.
Matt Hazelwood, chief commercial officer of Glasgow airport owner AGS Airports, said the decision was "tremendous" news for Glasgow and the west of Scotland.
"Each time this iconic aircraft comes to Glasgow, it is a significant moment for Scotland’s aviation industry, but this announcement is particularly special and a real endorsement from Emirates as we continue to rebuild the vital connectivity that is so important to the region," said Hazelwood.
“It is yet another milestone in Glasgow airport’s near 20-year relationship with Emirates, and I look forward to welcoming back this tremendous aircraft in March."
Flights will depart Dubai at 7.50am arriving Glasgow at 12.45pm. Returns depart Glasgow at 2.35pm arriving Dubai at 1.05am (+1).
Emirates’ A380s feature 14 private suites in First, 76 fully flat-bed seats in Business and 427 seats in Economy.
