Emirates is ramping up its plans to restore its fleet of Airbus A380s to service, and expects the aircraft to serve 27 destinations – up from a current 16 – by November.
From 1 October, the Gulf carrier’s A380s will serve Heathrow four-times-daily and Manchester twice-daily. In total, Emirates will operate 66 weekly UK-Dubai flights spread across its fleet of A380s and B777s.
The airline said on Monday (27 September) it was "on track" to restore 70% of pre-Covid capacity by the end of the year, during which time it will add more than 280,000 seats globally.
Across the additional 11 routes set to be served by the A380 by November, while also taking into account extra frequencies, Emirates will offer a further 165,000 A380 seats, with more than 50 A380s set to return to service.
Routes on which the aircraft is set to be reinstated include Amsterdam, Barcelona, Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Johannesburg, Madrid, Milan, Riyadh, Sao Paulo and Zurich. It will also be deployed on Emirates’ Istanbul services from 1 October for the first time.
Emirates’ total A380 fleet will grow to 118 by the end of the year. The carrier is currently flying to more than 120 cities worldwide, around 90% of its pre-pandemic network.
