Eurotunnel has been forced to cancel tickets and issue warnings due to the heatwave the southeast is experiencing.
The operator said it has taken the “unprecedented decision to cancel daytrip/overnight tickets” for travel today (Friday July 27) due to the extreme temperatures affecting air conditioning.
Passengers faced five-hour queues yesterday because of the delays, Metro reports.

In an update this morning Eurotunnel said there were waiting times due to restricted shuttle capacity “caused by the extreme and prolonged high temperatures”, adding ticket sales for travel today currently unavailable.
“The prolonged and unprecedented temperatures in the south east of England are affecting the air conditioning onboard our shuttles,” the operator said.
“Due to the high level of traffic booked, we are currently unable to check-in any customers arriving more than two hours before their booked crossing time.
“We strongly recommend that you stock up with water and take a comfort break prior to arriving at our Folkestone terminal.”
Eurotunnel added that durng the busy summer months of July and August, passengers should check-in on time for their booked departure – is no earlier than two hours and no later than 45 minutes before.
