Adventure travel specialist Exodus Travels has recruited its first head of sustainability and community.
Kasia Morgan joins the operator from clean energy aggregator Big Clean Switch, which has run low-carbon engagement campaigns for brands including Ikea and Ben & Jerry’s.
The newly created role, says Exodus, reinforces its commitments to sustainable and responsible travel.
Over the coming months, Morgan and the wider Exodus team will develop a new sustainability strategy consolidating and expanding its existing efforts, in conjunction with the Exodus Travels Foundation.
The foundation is aiming to raise £500,000 over the next three years to support empowerment and education in the communities where Exodus Travels operates, and fund environmental projects.
“Through my work in international development, and my own personal passion for exploring the world, I’ve seen first-hand the transformational effect responsible travel and the provision of economic opportunity can have in parts of the world previously blighted by poverty or degradation,” said Morgan.
“I’m delighted to join an organisation and team who so clearly have sustainable travel at their heart with a long history of driving initiatives that directly benefit the communities and environment around many of their destinations.”
Morgan added she was hoping to bring some of her experience in other sectors to travel where she believes there is “huge scope” for the “far-reaching impact” of action on sustainability.
