One of Langkawi’s most famous hotels faces months of rebuilding after a devastating fire.
The blaze at The Andaman Resort Langkawi is thought to have begun in the kitchen of the luxury property, destroying one of its buildings.
Guests and staff were evacuated safely, however strong winds caused the fire to flare again after it was thought to be extinguished.
The Malay Mail said firefighters were forced to return 10 hours after the original blaze and had saved other buildings by creating fire breaks.
The hotel is one of Marriott’s Luxury Collection Resorts. Marriott has been contacted for an update.
