Fred Olsen Cruise Lines has named Samantha Stimpson as its new chief executive, joining from German tour operating giant FTI.
Stimpson replaces current managing director Pete Deer, who moves to the post of chief financial officer.
Stimpson, who will take up her new role “no later than” 1 February 2024, is currently FTI’s chief commercial officer and brings more than 25 years of commercial, operational and executive experience in the travel and hospitality industry.
She will be based at Fred Olsen Cruise Lines’ head office in Ipswich and oversee strategic development and managing the operation of the brand’s three ships.
Stimpson said: “I am honoured to be joining Fred Olsen Cruise Lines, a company that I have known and admired for years.
“I very much look forward to working with the organisation, contributing my skills and expertise, continuing to enhance the strategy which is built on smaller, elegant ships and exceptional experiences, underpinned by a culture that recognises the importance of personal, attentive service.”
Anette Olsen, chief executive of Fred Olsen’s holding company Bonheur ASA, thanked Deer “for the extraordinary efforts during the last few years”.
She added: "Samantha brings a strategic mindset, extensive knowledge and management experience with a strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing the travel industry.
"We are very pleased Samantha joins us, as we see exciting possibilities for Fred Olsen Cruise Lines for the future."
