Friday 26 May is set to see the highest number of UK departures for more than three years, according to new research.
Data published on Tuesday (23 My) by aviation analytics firm Cirium shows that on Friday 3,000 flights are set to take off from UK airports – the highest since 20 December 2019.
Numbers will increase even more over the weekend, with 11,356 departures scheduled from UK airports. This is up 6% and 291% respectively compared to 2022 and 2021, while figures for the whole half-term are 268% up on 2021 levels.
According to Cirium, Heathrow will see the highest number of departures, followed by Gatwick, Stansted and Manchester. EasyJet is projected to be the largest airline operating during the weekend, followed by Ryanair, Jet2 and Loganair.
