G Adventures and Hostelworld have appointed a reporter to experience the brands’ new hostel-based itineraries, sourcing stories and providing content and training for the operator’s agent community.
Claire Scott will visit countries around the world to publicise the hostel group and adventure operator’s new Roamies initiative – which seeks to "fostering community and camaraderie" among travellers aged 18 to 35.
Roamies features 38 itineraries across 15 countries, staying in more than 50 hostels. The product range looks to offer the free-spirited nature of adventure travel combined with the social side of staying in hostels.
Scott, who was named Young Journalist of the Year at Ireland’s National Journalism Awards in 2020, will join travellers on five trips in 2022 around Europe, Peru, Costa Rica, Mexico and south-east Asia, during which she will write articles and create content for G Adventure’s agent partners to use.
Brian Young, managing director EMEA at G Adventures, said: “With Roamies focused on social connection, we felt having someone on the ground meeting our travellers, adventuring alongside them and experiencing the incredible hand-picked hostels would bring incredible value to G Adventures, our customers, and our media and agent partners.”
