The Global Network of Women’s (GNOW) first event took place on October 3, with 50 of the Global Travel Group’s members coming together to network and discuss business ideas and some of the challenges they face.
GNOW was set up earlier this year for members by Global’s commercial director Cherie Richards and is aimed at “championing the role of women in travel”.
Tuesday’s event was open to all members of the group – female and male – to promote and embed diversity.
Richards told TTG: “I wanted to be able to inspire, motivate, coach and develop women in travel.
“I wanted there to be informative sessions, and for attendees to be able to leave and have a light bulb moment about what they can do differently in their own business.”
Along with speed networking sessions, other elements of the event included an agent panel featuring Jenette Spirovski from Travel Options 4U, Issy Wiggins-Turner from Go Easy Travel and Jo Richards of Tivoli Travel, and a session on GDPR – the General Data Protection Regulation being introduced on May 25, 2018.
Richards added that she wanted delegates to leave the conference feeling “uplifted and confident”.
She said: “For me, it’s the first event I will have done and the agenda has been put together in the hope of inspiring and motivating guests, as well as taking away some learnings as well.
“We will be having more events; if we could hold one every quarter that would be ideal.”
