Globus has restructured and expanded its trade sales team, promising to ensure agents are given “exactly what they need” to sell the group’s cruising and touring products.
Phil Shipman, UK sales director for Globus Journeys, Cosmos Tours and Avalon Waterways, said the trade makes up “a huge proportion” of the company’s UK business.
“We are now taking this commitment one step further with this new team,” he added. “The new trade team is all about giving agents exactly what they need across the different sectors of touring and cruising."
Jayne Lambert joins from AmaWaterways and will support national accounts and consortia at head office level for touring brands Cosmos and Globus in her key account manager role. She has previously held roles with the likes of G Adventures and Hurtigruten.
Kelly Calver, meanwhile, has taken up the newly-created role of key account manager for Avalon Waterways, while former Premier Holidays sales and business development manager Karen Milward has taken up the position of business development manager for the south of England.
Before joining Premier Holidays, Milward worked for Wendy Wu Tours, Club Med and Travel 2. She has been replaced at Premier by Red Sea Holidays’ Nicky Bird.
Elsewhere, former Ambassador Cruise Line business development manager Ryan Readman joins as business development manager for the north having previously held roles with Scenic and Emerald, Contiki and Trafalgar Tours.
Finally, Sarah Makewell is moving into a new inside sales support position and will be responsible for all of Globus’s agency sales activity including agent events, fam trips and incentives.
Shipman, who joined Globus last September, added: “Splitting our head office account management into touring and river gives both Kelly and Jayne the opportunity to focus and really drive sales in their respective fields, while Karen and Ryan will capitalise on their high street relationships to support agents in selling our award-winning brands when out on the road.”
In addition, a new travel agent training portal will launch this summer alongside a raft of new agent fam trips and incentives across Globus brands.
UK managing director Lesley Taylor said: “We are excited to announce our enhanced trade-facing team.
“This further aligns us as a brand to the significance of supporting travel agents and therefore increasing our ongoing sales.
“2024 is a very significant time for the Globus family of brands, with a new ship, new tours, sailings and customer service developments in the pipeline.”
