Services between Paddington station and Heathrow are likely going to be disrupted on Friday (8 December) after Elizabeth line and Heathrow Express trains were blocked due to an overhead power line failure.
Both the airport and the train service have called on travellers to allow extra time for their journeys, as the Piccadilly line was functioning as normal but could be busier than usual.
“We advise passengers to allow extra time for their journey and apologise for any inconvenience caused,” Heathrow Express said in a tweet.
It comes as thousands of passengers were left stranded in cold, dark trains for hours after a train collided with a foreign object outside of Paddington station, causing power up to Acton Main Line to be switched off.
Among the travellers who were stuck on the trains were singer James Blunt and TV presenter Rachel Riley.
“Been stuck somewhere outside Paddington for close to four hours now. Out of peanuts and wine,” the singer tweeted. “Can someone please contact Dominos UK. This is an emergency.”
Meanwhile Riley said: “Nearly four hours after we got on, we’re getting off the Elizabeth line, woohoo!”
