The Foreign Office has issued a travel warning for Norway after heavy rains hit the southern part of the country, causing floods, mass evacuations and damage to infrastructure.
“Be aware of the current extreme weather warning issued for southern Norway due to heavy rain and risk of floods and landslides,” said the Foreign Office.
According to media reports, the storm caused a critical railway bridge to collapse on Monday morning (14 August), halting connections between Oslo and the city of Trondheim.
Over the past week, the storm – named Hans – has battered the Nordics and the Baltics, killing at least three people.
Nevertheless, cruise line Havila Voyages told TTG none of its operations had been impacted by the severe weather, while Hurtigruten said there had been only a handful of changes due to the weather conditions.
