Consumers are planning to cut back on takeaways and new clothing as cost-of-living pressures bite, but are less likely to reduce their spending on holidays, a new survey has revealed.
More than eight in 10 (82%) of the 2,000 UK respondents to the survey said they planned to reduce spending this year on non-essential purchases.
More than 60% of respondents said this would see them reduce spending on takeaways, while nearly half (47%) said they would cut back their spend on clothing. Alcohol was third in the list.
However, when asked which non-essential purchases they planned to spend the most money on, holidays came out on top with 27% of the vote. This was followed by clothing (21%) and alcohol (14%).
The survey was carried out by Censuswide over 21-23 March on behalf of customer engagement specialist Braze.
