Intrepid Travel smashed its UK and Ireland sales record twice in a week last month, reporting record sales on Tuesday (30 January) and again on Wednesday (31 January).
Wednesday’s sales figures were a further 50% improvement on Tuesday’s, with the operator hailing the impact of its Big January Sale campaign.
January was a record sales month for Intrepid both globally and in the UK, with the specialist reporting a 36% increase in revenue, and a 30% increase in industry revenue compared with January 2023.
“These figures show those who can are continuing to prioritise travel, despite the cost of living pressures and economic uncertainty,” said Intrepid UK and Ireland general manager Hazel McGuire.
In terms of destinations, Vietnam, Morocco, India, Peru and Costa Rica were among Brits’ go-to destinations, while demand for south-east Asia and southern and eastern Africa saw a resurgence.
Elsewhere, bookings to Sri Lanka jumped by 900% compared with the previous year, with Tanzania and Botswana proving two of Intrepid’s hottest regional destinations.
McGuire added: “It’s great to see south-east Asia, Intrepid’s heartland, topping our top-booked lists again.”
