ITA Airways is to expand services from London City airport by introducing a twice daily service to Rome Fiumicino airport from March 2024.
The Italian carrier will become the first to operate the route since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in early 2020.
ITA has already introduced flights from London City to Milan Linate, which launched in November. This route currently operates three times per day with a fourth daily service due to start in January 2024 which will take total weekly flights up to 24.
Anne Doyere, aviation director at London City, said: “We’re delighted to strengthen our partnership with ITA Airways and bring back another key route into our network as we continue to recover and grow.
“Rome will open up a huge range of new travel options for those on connecting flights, so we look forward to welcoming many new passengers to London City”.
ITA’s new London City-Rome flights will operate twice daily on weekdays and once per day on Saturday and Sunday.
