Jet2.com, Jet2holidays and Tui have cancelled all flights to Skiathos after the Greek island was hit by torrential rain and flash floods.
Hundreds of tourists are thought to be stranded on the island following the adverse weather conditions, with the national press reporting at least one person has died and one is missing.
As a result of the conditions, Jet2 cancelled all flights which were due to depart to Skiathos on Tuesday (5 September) and all five flights due to depart to the island on Wednesday (6 September).
This is in addition to one flight from Stansted to Skiathos which diverted to Thessaloniki because of the weather on Monday (4 September), where customers have been provided with hotel accommodation.
"We are continuing to closely monitor the situation on the island and have been in touch with customers in resort by SMS to advise them of the situation, and to ask them to follow the advice of the local authorities as well as their hoteliers," a spokesperson said.
"In addition, our in-resort teams are working tirelessly to look after customers despite infrastructure challenges caused by the weather. We will ensure that we fly all of our customers home once conditions allow."
They continued: "We recognise that this is an extremely difficult and unpleasant experience for our customers, and we, of course, are extremely sorry to hear this. Although extraordinary events such as these are completely outside of our control, our absolute focus is on doing everything we can to look after everyone."
Meanwhile, Tui cancelled three flights due to depart to the island on Tuesday (5 September). "We are closely monitoring the weather situation in Skiathos, and our main priority remains communicating with those customers in resort and ensuring their safety," a spokesperson added.
"We are working to get customers safely back home to the UK, and will contact them directly with flight details once they are confirmed. For those due to travel, we are actively monitoring the weather forecast and will be in direct contact with a travel update as soon as possible."
Customers that were due to travel to Skiathos on 5 or 6 of September with Tui are able to amend their holiday for free with a 10% rebooking incentive, or receive a full refund if they no longer wish to travel.
The UK Foreign Office updated its advice for Greece to reflect the conditions on Tuesday (5 September). "Adverse weather conditions, including floods, are affecting some regions. The situation can change quickly," they said.
Officials said the amount of water which has fallen in the past 24 hours was the same amount of rainfall usually expected for the whole of autumn.
