More Jet2holidays customers booked a trip on Christmas Day than ever before this year, thanks to the launch of a massive sale the day before.
The UK’s largest tour operator has reported strong demand for the Canaries, the Balearics, mainland Spain, Greece, Cyprus and Turkey as well as Italy, Malta, Croatia, Montenegro, Bulgaria, Morocco and Portugal.
City break destinations – such as Athens, Porto, Krakow, Rome, Prague, Budapest and Barcelona – have also been popular with customers.
The sales surge comes after Jet2holidays launched a sale on Christmas Eve offering holidaymakers £90 per person off all Jet2holidays departures up to 15 November 2026 as well as £100 off per person for customers with a myJet2 account.
Travel agents with customers who have a myJet2 account can also offer the same £100 discount.
Steve Heapy, chief executive of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said: “Boxing Day is traditionally when the peak holiday booking period has started, but we saw the bookings rush start earlier this year – with Christmas Eve onwards proving to be extremely popular, and Christmas Day itself seeing a bumper number of bookings.
“Customers are obviously turning to a well-deserved holiday to give themselves something to look forward to, and our huge sale has motivated them into getting that holiday booked in.”
He added: “We expect [strong booking levels] to continue into the New Year as customers look to get their holiday locked in.”
