Jet2.com and Jet2holidays has confirmed plans, reported by TTG last November, to massively expand its Greece programme this summer.
The airline and operator will offer half a million extra seats to destination this summer, an increase of 86% on the number of seats it offered to the destination in summer 2019.
Jet2 will operate flights to Greece from all 10 of its UK bases, flying to 15 gateways – including Athens for the very first time. It will also fly to Corfu, Chania, Heraklion, Kefalonia, Thessaloniki, Kos, Kalamata, Lesvos, Mykonos, Preveza, Rhodes, Skiathos, Santorini and Zante.
In total, Jet2holidays will offer breaks to almost 175 resorts across 20 Greek destinations, with Jet2.com operating 270 weekly services during peak periods.
For the first time, Jet2.com and Jet2holidays will offer Athens flights and city breaks. From 14 April, there will be two flights a week to the Greek capital from both Birmingham and Manchester.
Jet2.com will also operate another six new routes to Greece this summer: Edinburgh-Skiathos, Edinburgh-Santorini, Edinburgh-Preveza, Edinburgh-Halkidiki, Bristol-Halkidiki and Glasgow-Kos.
Steve Heapy, Jet2.com and Jet2holidays chief executive, said: “With international travel returning to normality, we are looking forward to our biggest and busiest ever summer in Greece, including the launch of flights and city breaks to Athens.”
Yiannis Paraschis, chief executive of Athens International airport, added: “The UK being one of our most important markets, Jet2.com’s new services to Manchester and Birmingham will meet the increased demand and offer more value-for-money options to the travelling public."
