Latest customer polling by Jet2.com and Jet2holidays has shown that confidence about travel has returned to pre-pandemic levels following the easing of the UK’s international travel restrictions.
Almost two-thirds of respondents (62%) said they feel confident in booking holidays abroad this year and beyond, which, according to the airline and operator, is the highest level since early 2020.
Around one in five (22%) said they do not feel confident about travelling – the lowest that this figure has reportedly been since early 2020.
The findings come after the UK government scrapped the amber and green lists and reduced the number of countries in the red category in a major boost for the sector on Friday (17 September).
Jet2 said its bookings climbed by more than 250% since the announcement, with Friday (17 September) being its busiest day for bookings this year.
Jet2.com and Jet2holidays chief Steve Heapy said the overhaul was the news "that customers have been waiting for".
"The removal of the traffic light system and costly testing burdens, alongside the reopening of key destinations such as Turkey, means that customers can really plan and look forward to their holidays," he added.
"We knew that confidence and demand would bounce back very sharply once the onerous and unfair restrictions were removed, and our best day for sales this year shows that this is very much the case."
