Jet2 expands Stansted programme with new destination and extra based aircraft
James ChappleJet2.com and Jet2holidays will base an extra aircraft at Stansted airport this summer, allowing it to up capacity by 15% and add a new destination.
With the addition of a 16th based aircraft at Stansted, the airline and operator – the UK’s largest Atol holder – will operate up to 240 weekly flights during peak periods.
New for summer 2023 is Bourgas, opening up Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast – including the resorts of Sunny Beach, Nessebar and St Vlas. Sunny Beach was recently ranked by Post Office Travel Money the world’s third best value destination for summer 2023.
Twice-weekly Stansted-Bourgas flights will get under way from 21 July, running through to late-September. In total, Jet2.com and Jet2holidays will offer 43 destinations from Stansted this summer. These include two new city break destinations – Rome and Athens.
Destinations gaining extra peak season capacity include Majorca (23 weekly flights), Ibiza (13), Faro (12), Crete (11), Rhodes (10), Menorca (nine), Sicily (two) and Kalamata (two).
Steve Heapy, Jet2.com and Jet2holidays chief executive, said demand from customers and agents was enduring into the spring after a strong start to the year. "We have once again responded by expanding our programme and investing in our Stansted operation," said Heapy.
"As a result, customers and independent travel agents now have more choice, more destinations and more sunshine to look forward to. This expansion further strengthens our presence at London Stansted and we look forward to filling our aircraft with happy holidaymakers."
Stansted aviation director Simon Gorrighan described the additional aircraft as "a real vote of confidence" from Jet2.
