Jet2 has added an extra 10,000 Menorca seats to its summer 2020 programme and brought forward departures to early April, opening up travel to the Balearic island at Easter.
In total, Jet2.com will offer an additional 26 return services starting in April. The operator said its decision had been driven by increasing demand for early-season holidays.
Extra weekly flights on Thursdays and Sundays will be available from three of Jet2.com’s nine UK bases – Birmingham, Manchester and Stansted – from 5 April.
Jet2.com will offer four weekly flights during peak periods through to the end of October from Birmingham and six from Stansted. From Manchester, it will operate five weekly flights during peak periods through to early November.
The operator has also hailed its burgeoning relationship with individual Menorcan hoteliers and the Menorca Tourist Board, and has pledged to work closely with the island’s tourism sector to boost trade outside peak season.
Steve Heapy, Jet2.com and Jet2holidays chief executive, said: “Menorca is a destination attracting more and more customers in the shoulder seasons. With stunning natural beauty, secret beaches, historic architecture and a wealth of culture on offer, we know these April services will be extremely popular with customers who want to visit Menorca earlier in the season and for Easter.
“[This] announcement is further evidence of our commitment to this fantastic destination and living proof we are not just working to fill hotels in the peak summer season but with hoteliers and the tourist board to achieve the best possible results in shoulder seasons too.”
