Jet2.com’s and Jet2holidays’ first flight to Izmir from Bristol airport departed on Tuesday (3 May), marking the launch of the new route for summer 2022 from the companies’ newest base.
The flight signals the start of the airline and operator’s services to destinations across the Mediterranean, including Turkey, operating weekly Tuesday services to the Turkish city from Bristol this summer from Tuesday (3 May) to 1 November.
In addition, the companies will launch a new route to Bodrum from Bristol on Thursday (5 May). They will operate weekly Thursday services to the Turkish destination until 19 May, increasing to up to two weekly services (Monday and Thursday) from 30 May to 31 October.
The companies’ inaugural flights to Girona, Larnaca, Costa de Almeria, Reus, Halkidiki, Malta and Verona from Bristol will also depart for the first time this month and in early June.
Steve Heapy, chief executive of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said the new route will "prove popular" with customers and agents.
"We are delighted to see our first flight take off to Izmir today from our newest UK base, Bristol airport," he added.
"As well as taking off to Izmir for the first time from Bristol airport today, we are pleased to be offering a further nine new routes from the base for summer 22, on top of an unrivalled programme to other popular sunshine favourites."
