Fred Holidays has doubled the size of its trade team with another high-profile appointment.
Joseph Grimley returns to travel with Fred Holidays as business development manager. He follows Riviera Travel’s Paul Mellon to Fred Holidays, doubling the operator’s BDM team from two to four in just a few weeks.
Grimley has spent the last couple of years away from the travel industry. His last industry role was with Scenic Group where he was sales director, leading the trade sales function. Prior to that, he held various sales roles with Riviera Travel and Page & Moy.
In his new role, Grimley’s key focus will be supporting the company’s strategic growth and GSA partners including Amadeus River Cruises. He will report to Laura Wilson, Fred Holidays’ head of business development.
"I’m very excited to be returning to the industry that I’ve loved for more than 30 years – I’ve missed it," said Grimley, whose appointment was confirmed on Wednesday (7 February)
“Fred Holidays’ incredible portfolio of products, along with their pedigree and people, really appeals and is the perfect fit for my experience. I can’t wait to join the amazing team and get out and about introducing agents and their customers to one of the industry’s best kept secrets."
Grimley will take up his new role with Fred Holidays on Monday (12 February), as will Mellon.
Tricia Birmingham, Fred Holidays’ director of tour operations, added: “We are delighted to welcome Joseph, who has over 35 years’ experience in many specific sectors of the travel industry, most notably cruise and river.
"This experience will prove invaluable as we continue to grow and support our trade partners with the addition and creation of a new trade support team.”
