Leger Holidays will expand its fleet of luxury coaches to 11 next month, with boss Liam Race comparing the upgrade to offering a business-class experience.
Four new Luxuria coaches will enter service in June, in addition to the three the operator ordered pre-Covid, bringing its fleet of Luxuria coaches to 11 in total.
Race said the decision to expand the fleet was fuelled by demand, and also an increase in customers looking to upgrade their holidays.
The newest four Scania Irizar i8 coaches feature upgraded touch-screen entertainment systems, with larger screens and a wider choice of films, music games and on-screen information.
Each seat comes with a plug socket and USB port.
Other features include air conditioning, a more spacious interior and reclining armchair-style seats, with more legroom, as well as an onboard toilet and washroom, and drinks counter.
Leger’s Luxuria coaches are configured with double and single seats, including four rows of face-to-face seats with shared tables. The operator currently offers nearly 120 Luxuria tours.
"The equivalent of business class, travelling by Luxuria ensures the journey is a unique experience," said Leger chief executive Liam Race.
"By June, seven new Luxuria coaches will be out on the road, and the whole fleet of 11 have full lines of work scheduled in for this year.
"Demand has fuelled the increase in the luxury coaches, and it is very encouraging and a positive sign that the travel industry is bouncing back.
"It seems our customers are also willing to spend more by upgrading their holidays – possibly to make up for the time they’ve missed out on during the pandemic.”
