London City airport has reportedly set out plans for "significant expansion" in a bid to meet post-Covid travel demand.
The airport is said to have launched a 10-week consultation on increasing the cap on how many passengers can fly in and out, as it seeks to increase current passenger numbers from 6.5 million to 9 million by 2031.
According to The Financial Times, the airport will also look to allow more weekend flights, as well as a relaxation of the current regulations on take-offs and landings between 12.30pm on Saturdays and 12.30pm on Sundays.
The airport also reportedly hopes to be given the go-ahead to operate 12 flights between 6.30am and 7am for six days a week.
However, it is not seeking to lift its 110,000 flights a year cap and additional capacity would not need extra infrastructure.
