Further disruption at Luton airport over the coming days is “inevitable” following the huge fire that engulfed one of the terminal car parks earlier this week, authorities have said.
The airport on Wednesday evening (11 October) urged passengers to continue following its advice as operations resumed, hailing the "tireless" work of airport staff and emergency services.
“We are committed to providing as much support as we can to affected customers,” Luton airport said.
There were limited minor delays to departures and arrivals on Thursday morning (12 October) after dozens of cancellations on Wednesday.

Firefighters from Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue were initially called to the scene on Tuesday night (10 October) after a fire broke out at Terminal Car Park 2.
Chief fire officer Andrew Hopkinson told the BBC that – while an investigation was still ongoing – emergency services believe the fire started in a diesel car before spreading out throughout the car park, damaging its structure as well as the 1,500 vehicles stored inside.
Reports in the national press, citing firefighters who attended the blaze, suggest the car park – first opened in 2019 for a total of £20 million – may have to be demolished due to the damage.
