New Icelandic airline Niceair will launch its inaugural UK service on 3 June from Stansted, with a Manchester flight to follow.
The carrier will fly from Akureyri in Iceland’s north on Monday and Friday, with return fares from £240.
Akureyri is 100km from the Arctic Circle and regarded as Iceland’s capital of the north.
The destination was previously only accessible via a five-hour drive or a domestic flight from Reykjavik. It offers soft adventure and geothermal waters.
Niceair also plans to begin Manchester flights from an unspecified date in October. Twice-weekly services will go on sale on Wednesday (27 April). Flights are on an all-economy Airbus A319 with 150 seats.
