Fred Olsen Cruise Lines has announced plans to recruit 16 experts to take part in sailings across its fleet to enhance its onboard offering.
Four individuals – an entertainment host, a culture curator, a nature scout and a maritime guide – will share their expertise and host events onboard all 2023 and 2024 sailings.
Speaking onboard Bolette on Tuesday (4 May), head of sales Geoff Ridgeon said the experts’ role is to "bring the onboard experience and the joy of the journey to life".
"It’s about exploring the world from the vantage point of the ship and the sea, it’s about enjoying the time you spend at sea," he added.
The culture curators will "get under the skin" of the historical, cultural and artistic elements of the itineraries by hosting small-group talks onboard, while nature scouts will share their knowledge on the "natural beauty" of the destinations, host astrology sessions and join shoreside tours.
Meanwhile, maritime guides will offer insights into the day-to-day workings of the vessels, host bridge visits and take guests on tours of the ships.
Finally, entertainment hosts will put on an array of daytime activities in the vessels’ bars, lounges and deck areas, as well as offering an enhanced evening entertainment package.
