Iglu Cruise celebrates tenth birthday

The festivities saw a host of industry figures from the cruise and tour operating sectors raise a glass to the agency at The Trafalgar Hotel last night (July 12).

The UK’s largest independent cruise agent, Iglu Cruises scooped two TTG Top 50 awards earlier this year taking home the UK and Ireland’s Top Cruise Agency prize and was named the UK and Ireland’s Top Call Centre.

Founded by Richard Downs in 1998, Iglu.com focused on the ski marketing before turning its attention to cruise in 2006.

Under the command of current managing director Simone Clark the company has grown to offer more than 30 destinations from over 40 ocean and river cruise lines and acquired rival Planet Cruise in 2013.

Speaking during the evening Downs thanked suppliers “from the bottom of our hearts”

He added: “One of the reasons we were attracted to the cruise industry was our ski partners persuaded us it was a great idea and like skiing, cruising offers our customers such a great experience.

“It’s the people who make the difference and we are just delighted by the support we have had and our suppliers are fun to do business with.

“We are only really ten years old so there’s so much more for us to do together and with so much uncertainty at the moment there is much more for us to learn and grow the industry together."
