A travel agent is celebrating after her partner of 19 years proposed to her - while on a fam trip.
Not Just Travel’s Emily Maycock was enjoying her first fam of the year on the ski slopes of Aspen, along with 18 other Not Just Travel consultants and staff, when her partner Martin Good decided to pop the question.
“As soon as Emily told me that we were going on an incredible trip to Aspen I decided there and then that I was going to propose to her on top of a mountain," Good said.
"We had a group photo with a few of the other consultants, who are now good friends. After the group photo, I decided that was the right time. I shuffled along on my snowboard, got down on one knee, popped the question and Emily burst into tears and said ‘yes’.”
Good added that he took inspiration for the engagement ring’s design, which is in the shape of a mountain, from the location.
Maycock said she was clueless as to her finance’s plans and cried and shook as she travelled back down the mountain following the proposal.
“Aspen will always remain in our hearts as a very special place. We plan to return with our son and friends and family,” she added.
The group trip was organised by American Affair, along with support from United Airlines and the Aspen, Denver and Colorado tourist boards.
Paul Harrison, co-founder of Not Just Travel and its recruitment arm, The Travel Franchise who accompanied the trip said: “Aspen is a romantic resort and Martin and Emily certainly proved it. We are thrilled for the couple; they are lovely people and deserve to be happy. Colorado has been a once in a lifetime trip for us all.”
