Emirates has confirmed plans to reinstate A380 aircraft on its Birmingham-Dubai route have been suspended.
The Gulf carrier had been poised to deploy the aircraft on the route from the start of July. However, a statement provided to TTG on Wednesday (9 March) following a report by aviation title Simple Flying confirmed the aircraft would not return in the summer.
The route will, instead, continue to be operated by smaller Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, offering about 40% fewer seats per flight.
"Emirates’ planned A380 services to a few cities across our network has been deferred after a routine review of our operational requirements," said the carrier.
"Emirates is still committed on rebuilding our global network and services and we will announce the deployment of our A380 aircraft on specific routes at the appropriate time."
