Transatlantic budget carrier Norse Atlantic Airways has launched two new routes from Gatwick to the Florida destinations of Orlando and Fort Lauderdale.
The Norwegian airline started services from the Sussex gateway to Orlando on Thursday (25 May) and Fort Lauderdale on Friday (26 May). The carrier already operates daily flights to New York and will add more US destinations later this summer.
The Gatwick-Orlando route will operate four times a week in May and June before increasing to a daily service in July. Norse Atlantic’s Gatwick-Fort Lauderdale flights will initially fly three times per week until the end of June and then go up to four flights per week in July for the rest of the summer schedule.
Casandra Matej, president and chief executive for Visit Orlando, said: “Low-cost air carriers like Norse are particularly appealing for families and visitors on a budget, who are looking to save money on travel while enjoying the sunshine in the theme park capital of the world.”
Norse Atlantic operates Boeing 787 Dreamliner fitted with economy and premium cabins – the latter offers seats with a 43-inch pitch and 12-inch recline.
