NYC & Company has unveiled a range of new product available in 2022, including the 30th anniversary of New York’s restaurant week and the launch of a selection of hotels.
The destination marketing company said more than 9,000 new hotel rooms will be coming online this year with the Aman New York, the Ritz-Carlton NoMad and the Hard Rock Hotel New York all set to open this spring.
The Renaissance Hotels brand will open properties in Harlem and Flushing in the coming months and the Virgin Hotel New York City and Hotel Barriere Le Fouquet’s New York are expected to launch this summer.
Meanwhile, Moxy Hotels will open properties in Manhattan’s Lower East Side and Williamsburg later this year and The Fifth Avenue Hotel is expected to open this autumn.
NYC & Company will also host the 30th anniversary of NYC Restaurant Week in July. The four-week long programme will take place at a variety of restaurants from neighbourhood eateries to high-end dining across all five boroughs.
The city’s airports have also undergone transformations with new terminals at LaGuardia, Newark Liberty and JFK.
The new Terminal B at LaGuardia will feature 35 gates with new retail and dining offerings. Terminal C will open in the coming months.
Elsewhere, Newark Liberty will debut an updated Terminal A later this year with 33 new gates directly connected to a multilevel parking facility.
Terminal 8 at JFK will debut in December with 130,000 square feet of new space, serving American Airlines and British Airways. Construction will also begin this year on the new Terminal One at JFK, expected to open in 2026.
A range of new restaurants are also slated to open across the city, including Dutch Baby Bakery, a woman-owned shop in Washington Heights serving seasonal breakfast pastries, tarts, cakes and artisanal bread.
Keith McNally and Daniel Boulud are planning to reopen Augustine under a new name this spring in the Financial District.
The new offerings come after NYC & Company president and chief executive Fred Dixon said the UK and Irish travel trade "has never been more important" to New York as the city looks to rebuild from the pandemic.
"New York City is known for constant renewal and reinvention," he said. "From brand-new hotels and restaurants to upcoming star-studded Broadway shows, exhibitions and events, we invite New Yorkers and our global community alike to experience the vibrant offerings found only in NYC this year."
